Common Issues

Updated for Standable v2.1.0

Tracking / Estimation

"My legs don’t track!"

Standable is an estimation method and doesn’t "track" anything. Using limited data Standable estimates where it thinks your body is (but it doesn't actually know). Moving your head/HMD is required for the legs to guess where your feet should be.

Learning to puppet Standable's estimation can take some time, but once you get the hang of it, it will come naturally.

Trackers don't show up.

There are multiple things that could cause Standable to not show the trackers in SteamVR:

  • Confirm that the Standable driver/plugin is enabled in SteamVR. SteamVR sometimes blocks the driver after a crash. You may need to re-enable it! Learn how to enable the driver HERE

  • Make sure the trackers are enabled in the UI.

  • Attmept a Profile Reset or full reinstall if nessasary: How to do a Profile Reset

Trackers around my head.

If the trackers seem to be hovering near or above your head, it is likely your floor height is not properly set.

To learn how to calibrate your floor height check out the Floor Calibration Section

Calibration Issues

T-pose doesn't work.

Instructions on how to calibrate can be found HERE. If you still have issues check the two common solutions below:

1. Make sure "T-Pose Calibration" is enabled in the UI. If disabled, Standable will not enter calibraion mode.

2. It’s also possible you may not be positioning yourself correctly for it to trigger. Try holding a t-pose exactly like Luigi here, keeping your head looking straight and hands out flat.

(two controllers are nessasary for t-pose calibration)

Legs stay straight when crouching down.

This is a VERY common issue due to VRChat using Arm Span Avatar Measurement by default.

To fix this:

  1. Open your VRC Quick Menu. Then navigate to the Settings tab.
  2. Scroll down to the "Tracking & IK" section.
  3. Set Avatar Measurment to "Height" instead of "Arm Span".
  4. Recalibrate Avatar and Standable in VRChat.

My elbow keeps linking to my hip (Mixed Tracking)

This can occur when an elbow tracker gets too close to the hip (or vice versa) during the end of calibration when you put your arms down to your sides.

There are two ways to mitigate this:

  1. Set elbow or chest to estimated only. Setting a tracker to Estimated only will stop any trackers from linking to it. Learn how to change tracker modes HERE.

  2. Lower "Link Range" in the Advanced Settings page. (It's close to the bottom of the menu in the mixed tracking section) Lower this number until the tracker stops linking incorrectly.

Seat Estimation / Bed Toggle

Trouble triggering Seat Estimation.

Make sure "Seat Estimation" is enabled in the UI.

If you're still having trouble you can adjust the Seat Sensitivity in the "Other" section in Advanced Settings.

Bed Double tap toggle doesn't work!

Make sure "Double Tap Toggle" is enabled in the Floor & Bed Settings UI. You can learn more about it HERE

(Keep in mind that controller smoothing programs can cause issues with double tap detection)

Performance

Standable UI is super laggy/slow.

Standable was written in python, which is known for not being great for UI when a UI is complex.

There is no simple fix yet, but new updates will aim to smooth out any performance issues.

Estimation is Jittery / Jumpy

This is a bug that can arise when using wireless VR headsets (specifically with Virtual Desktop).

We are looking into the root cause of this issue, but have a "Virtual Desktop" section (in Advanced Settings) to smooth out the experience till a proper fix is found.

If you are using the "Disable Velocity Math" setting and it still jitters, try this:

  1. Open Advanced Settings in the UI (button in the bottom right corner)
  2. Scroll down to the bottom where the setting called "Basic Smoothing" is located.
  3. Increase this number until the jitter disappears or is low enough not to be an issue.

(This issue is being investigated and hopefully a proper solution will release with future patches)

How to do a Profile Reset

Sometimes Standable goofs up and Standable needs a manual profile reset. In most cases only the Profile needs be reset, though sometimes a full reinstall in nessasary.

Profile Reset

  1. Open the Advanced Settings Page by clicking the button at the bottom of the UI labled "Advanced Settings"
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  3. Press the red button labled "Reset Profile File"

Reinstall

There are some instances where some setting files become corrupted/broken and a Profile Reset doesn't work. In these cases a fresh reinstall of Standable is needed.

How to perform a fresh install:

  1. Open Steam on your computer.
  2. Go to the Library tab in the top navigation menu and search for "Standable".
  3. Right-click on Standable in the library list.
  4. Select "Manage" from the dropdown menu, then choose "Uninstall."
  5. Navigate to the file directory where Standable was installed (default is usually under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\).
  6. Locate and delete the "Standable Full Body Estimation" folder if it still exists to remove any leftover files.
  7. Reinstall Standable through Steam.

(This process hopefully will not be required in the future. In future patches Standable will be able to detect and fix this issue without a reinstall)
